Petworth has always been regarded as an important “antiques centre” but, in the five years since we moved here, it has blossomed into a thriving market town with a real buzz about it and an eclectic mix of businesses.
Petworth is the perfect place to come for a relaxing day out or a weekend away. Set in the glorious county of West Sussex, the scenery is breathtaking and what better place to start than with the historic beauty of Petworth House with its heavenly park?
A few minutes walk to the town centre, down the quaintly cobbled Lombard Street, reveals an interesting mix of shops and restaurants. The main square – Market Square – is the main thoroughfare through the town and during Goodwood Revival weekend in September you can enjoy the spectacle of a constant stream of classic cars.
If you choose to park your car in the free car park then it is a short walk through The Old Bakery to Golden Square – both very picturesque and full of interesting shops (including one of ours!) The town also plays host to a regular Farmers’ Market and French Market and at Christmas time Petworth’s beauty is highlighted even more by the sparkle and drama of our festive late night shopping evening on the first Saturday in December. |

Not far from our shop in the High Street is the Cottage Museum offering a flavour of the Petworth of old.
When I first passed through Petworth and fell in love with its beauty and friendliness, I likened it to that mythical town of Brigadoon! It is hard to put a finger on just what makes this town so special, but believe me, it is. So why don’t you come and see for yourselves all that we have to offer! |
